For years i have seen what models etc your getting for crimbo and been
jeaous as hell cos i never had anyone to buy me owt....but this years its
differant!!

Just found out a friend from Berlin has bought me the new Revell Fw 200. Not
my normal cup of tea but looking forward to it, along with a book to go with
it, she went to Motag modelshop, where i was in Apr.

No my plans are still on to move to E Germany in a few months with my dog,
so the main questions is, can i build kits and add swastikas like i do back
in old blighty? My friend asked my why i would add them as they didnt come
in the boxes and i said its the way its done eveywhere else, after market
decals, details etc to replicate the real thing

I asked my friend to ask the woman in the shop, if she rememberd a badly
speaking German English guy and she did, who spent hours in the shop getting
exited and she did....buying lots of things and she did........and not
wanting to leave.....and she did

oh well....will be the first year i get a model as a gift (be the first year
i get a present for as long as i can remember, and not one i had to buy
myself)

Yes its the first time ever...but amazingly, a friend whos a girl, saw me
adding stowage and i needed some help with putty etc really liked it, so i
gave her a 35th Dragon Panther from my stast and she loves doing it, really
good job too, she even listening to me....so im going to give her a 24th
Airfix Harrier, something not too small with little fidly bits.  She even
wanted to come to my monthly model meeting but i said that was for boys and
men only....

I was really impressed with how she did the tank, she even didnt get mad
when i pointed out little errors etc

Good luck on the move and sorry I don't know about swastikas. I wouldn't
call it E Germany though.

I would think that with Germany being all one country now that the rules
for the western portion cover the eastern portion also.  You may have
trouble getting decal sheets from outside if the Zollamt (Customs) opens
your mail to check.  If you have any decals to use do not put the models
out for public display.  This has been garnered from reading here for
the past 9 years.  I don't agree with it but it's not my country.

My Czech penfriend builds 1/48 German, Italian and Japanese fighters of
WWII.  He 'really' doesnt like anything Soviet.
