These Monogram Catalinas are one of the kits that would be a candidate
for replacement metal landing gear, along with Monogram's B-17, B-29,
Tamiya's Lancaster, etc:. Hint to the aftermarket folks.

I purchased several custom lead balancing weights from Terry Dean at TD
productions, NightieMission@aol.com. To answer your question directly, I
checked my stash and Terry makes weights for the monogram 1:48 Catalina
5/5A. Two years in the zip lock bag and they are still shiny, bright and
free of tool marks.
For more info have a look at the nice write up in Modeling Madness. You
won't believe how reasonably priced his products are. The most expensive set
is for (as you might have guessed) the B-29 and is $6, *postage included* I
ordered several sets, different scales, large and small aircraft. All are
very high quality parts and fit so well that glue in some cases may not be
necessary. I am very pleased indeed!
