Airfix makes a 1:72 kit for the British Vosper motor torpedo boat.
Has anyone built this kit?  I am wondering what would be involved in
changing this from a torpedo boat to a gun boat.  Has anyone tried
it?  Does anyone know of a kit to build a 1:72 motor gun boat?

It's been a while since I built the Vosper MTB, but if I remember correctly
you could easily remove the torpedo fittings. But that'll not solve your
problem, most (if not all) MGB's were a totally different design. What
You'll have to do is find linedrawings to show the differences before
deciding how difficult it is.
The RAF Rescue launch from Airfix is also 1:72 and they have a german MTB
(E-Boat) and Revell has a newer german MTB.
The only other 1:72 scale WW II ship/boat I know of is the Matchbox/Revell
Flower calss corvette.

Alas,no -- I think it's "box scale" or 1/125.

The ESM 72 database lists 307 1/72 scale (or close) ship and boat kits
and models produced in many mediums since the 1950s. Some are easy to
find such as Revell, others very difficult, such as the many,
expensive built models by Tyson.

A few of the listings are detailing sets for specific kits such as the
Czech Master detailing sets for the Revell U-Boat, etc. Others are
small craft such as the Kayaks in the Airfix Commando set.

In that extensive listing there are, sorry to say, no British Gun
Boats.

Tamiya made a Vosper patrol boat. I have one in the basement that I
bought probably over 10 years ago and never got around to finishing
up. http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/category.php?sub-id=25000

The Tamiya Vosper Boat is a 1960's version running on Gasturbines, used by
Libya, UK, and Denmark and also I belive somewhere in the far east.
