With the exception of the "spark vark", Hasegawa hasn't released their
line of F-111 kits in years. Anyone talk to a hobby shop owner as to
why these great kits have remained out of production for so long?

I think they released an F-111G a couple of years ago, in Australian
markings..... Basically the same as the FB-111 kit, again if memory serves.
Also, when the 111's were retired at Cannon, I think they released one in
commerative markings.....

The "retirement" scheme boxing with the Statue of Liberty was incorrect,
unfortunately.  They used the F-111G (FB-111A) plastic for the kit, but the
actual aircraft that carried that nose art was a F-111F.

A local hobby shop must have about a half dozen versions of it...but
they want easily double the price of any other hasegawa kit they
stock. They've been gathering dust in that place for at least 10 years
and 2 relocations.

Berkeley Hardware in Berkeley, CA still has the mid 1960's Revell
version on the shelf, the one I built when I was around 7 yrs old....
Guess its not that popular???

I'm hoping that Trumpeter will do a 1/32 version..... that would be
amazing....

The Hasegawa 1/72 F-111s were possibly the record holders for longest
time between announcement and actual release. They were shown on the
instruction sheets of 1960s Hasegawa kits, but didn't see the light of
day until the eighties, IIRC. Jo Han is another contender with their
long ago announced and as yet unreleased P-40B/C.

Yeah...I remember that!  But they were worth waiting for.

I sure built my share of those.  I think I had a half dozen built and
only two were Airfix's versions.  I know one Navy vet who wasn't the
happiest person to see my F-111B at the hobby shop.

In that scale you could put in motors to swing the wings. :)

Never mind motors, in that scale you'd be in danger of breaching START.

I know this is an old thread but does that model shop still have the F-111's
"gathering dust".
I'm after a "C" or a "G".
