Hey all!

I've been patiently waiting for the last 25 years for some modern
armor kits.  ESCI made a great series and then went under.  Just
lately Italeri and Revell have picked up where they left off.  Quite
literally in the case of some of the molds.  We're also seeing PST
ancd ACE from Russia making some damned fine kits of modern
armor, and DML/Dragon and Trumpeter are kicking a.s on this
subject as well.  Who'da thunk that the AS-90 would ever be made
into a 1/72 kit!

But where's the rest?

We've finally gotten the AAV-7, but there's nothing between the
old LVT-1 Buffalo and that.  As well, we've had the M-113 for
well over a decade; it was also produced as kits of the M-163
and the M-901.  But where in the hell is the Lance?  The Com-
mand version?  The Chapparal?  And if we have the M-2/3 Bradley
why don't we have an MLRS?  PST has produced a whole slew
of Russian SAMS, but we're still awaiting the HAWK and Pat-
riot launchers.  I'd _LOVE_ to have a Nike series!  It'd go great
next to my Bloodhound from Airfix ala the '60's!

And while I'm complaining...  Revell Germany is kicking a.s by
making excellent kits of the Fuchs, Marder, Berber, etc. but why
aren't we seeing any of the other German armor?  The Weisel,
the LARS, the M-47?

There's a ton of demand out there for these kits for wargaming
purposes if nothing else, so why aren't the kit producers making
them?

Just my $.02 (US) worth...

Armo does a cast resin 1/72 MLRS. There are a few others from your
list in the MAI/ESM 72 database. Give me a few names and I'll post
them here.

American SAMs? Yes, yes, yes!!! Having been in the limited run/resin
kit business I can venture a guess that while the missiles are very
simple, their launch and transport equipment are quite complicated and
expensive to produce. You're right, though. If the Eastern Europeans
can do their's why can't we do ours?

Or indeed a 1/72 Centurion? The ancient Airfix kit is underscale at 1/76 and
has many problems. The Artitec kit is even smaller at 1/87.

Just my Hfl.02 (Dutch Guilder's) worth.
