Does anyone have any idea how good (or bad) ICM products are -
quality-wise?

Just built the 1/72nd Nakajima Ki-27a for IPMS/USA's Reviewer Corps.

They have their good points and their bad points.

Buy it. Similar to Tamiya (some say it's a copy) but cheaper.

Tom Cleaver did a build review of the ICM P-51D for Modeling Madness:

I have their 1/35 T-35; I like that one, although you get a bit bored
building the huge individual link tracks.
There's a review of building that here -

I didn't have as much trouble as he did.

Their 1/35th scale armor kits are 1990's quality in terms of detail
and engineering. Not bad, but not comparable to recent Dragon or
Tamiya products. They went through a bankruptcy, and many of their
older molds were acquired by Alanger. ICM has since reappeared as ICM
Holding, and they are releasing new kits again.
