Walmart at least California and Nevada are no longer carrying plastic
models.
No more 21st Century 1/32 scale kits at great prices.

It appears the one here in my area of Oklahoma is heading down the same
road, models are basically gone. The few that are left are in the
reduced, get rid of it aisle.

Same in south-central Indiana, I noticed. All I got was the Revell "Spirit
of St. Louis."

Nearest Hobby Lobby is 25 miles away.

Good thing I've got a stash.

Put a codicil in the will that they have to build and paint all the kits
before they get penny one of the rest of the will.

Thanks for the tip!!  Checked out the Wally World in my neighborhood.
No models in sight, asked the manager.  They had stuff in the back
getting ready to put on closeout.  He sold me a whole rack of paints
(very full) and threw in the rack for $25.  I'll be checking back
tomorrow to see what he wants for the left over models.

Wally Worlds in the Quad Cities (Moline & Rock Island, IL, Davenport &
Bettendorf, IA) have completely denuded shelves of anything model-related.
Fortunately(?) we have a Hobby Lobby,  a Hobbytown USA and a couple good
family-owned brick and mortars.

Shelves look like a bomb hit them. Nothing left at all but the
assembled painted kits, which could be deassembled in a pinch. Based
on the human wreckage in the aisle, Wally got tired of them bringing
back kits and complaining that they were broke.

Who this is really going to hit hard is Revell-Monogram; that was
probably one of their main sources of sales.
Anyone seen what the situation is at Toys "R" Us?
I wonder if they will drop them also.

Literally. Every Christmas is said to be their last, and the decision
may have been made this year.
OTOH, there's a small town chain called Fairway that carries a small,
decent assortment of cars and planes, mainly Revell/Monogram.

If there's no competition they're as good as they 'need' to be.

Either way, that LIS Chariot looks real promising. And 1:25 scale to
boot. Looks like I'll be unloading that Lunar Models Chariot to
ePay....
The Landing Pod looks nice to.

hit all the walmarts in the area, find the closeout shelves. most of
the stores here didn't have much, a few ripped kits for $7, but one of
them had all the model paint for 75 cents a bottle, and the testors
airbrush/compressor kit for $21. and a couple of packages of rocket
engines, too.
teem - 09 Feb 2008 19:58 GMT
thats what i want to snag the pod & chariot,2 of both if possible.
