Probably the first to go will be the F-35 and once that is gone, there will be no reason for carriers of this size.  SignatureEnzo I wear the cheese. It does not wear me. I did read somewhere that the design spec allow for these new carriers to converted to a conventional launch configuration ( Catapults.) with a minimum of fuss. I guess we will have to wait > and see, That's what they say... but where are they going to get the aircraft? You can bet your bottom dollar that the MOD won't simply take something off the shelf. They will want major modifications and installation of British equipment which will push he unit price up threefold and push the in-service date back ten years. SignatureEnzo I wear the cheese. Within twenty years the French would own the Channel Islands and the Scilly Isles, the Irish would own the Isle of Man, Rockall would belong to Denmark and the Norwegians would own Scotland.
