Funny thing. When I was in school oh those many moons ago the engineering
students couldn't write a paragraph in English to save thier lives. I guess
things don't change much.

Not even spamming a relevant newsgroup, such is the depth of the guy's
identity crisis.

I think there's a genetic connection. Son=IT engineering, still has
English difficulties. Daughter=History Major, could say complete
sentences at 2 & 1/2. Life can be funny.

Yeah all of them were potentially brilliant engineers, did great on thier
SATs, etc. Just couldn't get subject-verb agreement let alone anything more
complicated.
I bailed on college, self taught as a programmer, seem to be doing well.
Funny thing, I've always been a better user of langauge than most people I
meet. I credit it to reading A LOT as a kid. Burned through the school and
public library on WWII, was Frederic Forsythe novels as a teen. Anything that
I could get my hands on. After a while I think you just get it. I never had
problems with new words, I could usually tell roughly what thye meant from
context and spelling. Such skills a re not taught at least not anymore.
