the trumpeter seems to be the better kit. finer detail, better molding, etc.
it seems a more modern kit and looks better side by side.
i'm wondering about dimensions. so my question, probably for the esteemed
cookie s, is, which is more dimesionally accurate? the tamy seems higher, like
a measurable couple of chunks higher on a mm ruler. the length and width seem
the sam, so it's only in height.
which is correct.
i'm a tamy fan, but the difference is too obvious in ages and quality. tamy
really neds to update or replace their kv2. but i don't think taht is at all
likely. cookie, any rumours or real news?

Tamiya replace a non-German subject? Not gonna happen. They did
pantograph it down to 1/48 with some minor tweaks.
The Trumpeter kits are state of the art and correct the majority of
the problems with the Tamiya kit, such as the dimensional problems,
hatches in the wrong places, and the entire motoritis problem with the
lower hull and bad first generation non-rubber band tracks (vinyl with
no interior face details.)
Most of the Trumpeter kits are based on recent Russian plans and
writings, so are pretty decent.

Nothing like having a quick trip down to a Russian tank museum with a
camera and a tape measure. :-)
