I thought I'd break up the endless on-topic rip-off watch adds,to what
must now be a shoppers newsgroup :)
Nothing great here...what's anyone working on?
I just finished the C A Atkins metal Hurricane prototype. I'm off-
subject a little this week, my lady has asked me to paint a miniature
ceramic house. My next real project will probably be a KP 1/72 Spit
IX, only because it's already sitting here open.
ok...back to our subject...
anyone know where I can get knock-off clothes cheap? ;)

that's kind of a 1 degree view. they sell lots of stuff.
i build pc's and give them to those who need. monitors are tough, so i send
people to buy a 10 buck special. i don't have space for the number of monitors
needed to go with pc's. so they get recycled and people get happy.
i've found lots of good stuff.

Indeed they do.  I bought an Airfix F-84F from one a couple of months ago.
It cost me a quid!

We won't in a few months, after the North American Union issues the

NOT an alien sirrah (although she loves having them come in and mow
her lawn)!  She is, as was described 142 years ago, a carpetbagger!
She isn't the first political hack to move here with the sole
objective of running for public office and not our charming winters,
and unless the voters of this state wake up and DO something about it,
she won't be the last....

Yep, residency requirements would end your alien representation
problems. Of course, blowing all of the bridges and tunnels to
the islands and waving a fond adieu would probably get you the
same thing. I though that was the best part to "I Am Legend",
even if using missles was utterly stupid. After all, some carefully

Yup, like a complete Aurora  "Big-Horned Sheep" kit you can purchase for
50 cents down at the thrift store and can trade for a sealed Airfix
Saturn IB even-up.
That little find saved me around $69.50.
God bless you, Big-Horned Sheep of the world; where would my model
spacecraft collection have been if you'd never existed? :-)

I'm putting the finishing touches to an F-15A and RF-4E and I'm now
considering what to start next.

As I seem to be obsessed by F-4s once again, there will very probably be an
Owl FAC F-4D using decals from WolfPak
http://www.millcreekconsultants.com/WP72-1.html

Also very likely is a 1/48 Spitfire PR.XI using the new Quickboost
conversion set, but it might very well end up as a Mk.XIX.

I've got three Gloster Meteors at various stages of completion.  There's a
Matchbox NF14 with the nose corrected and an undercoat, a Xtrakit F8 waiting
for its undercarriage and there's the beginnings of a PR10 using a Matchbox
NF kit with Aeroclub conversion parts and the spare Xtrakit canopy.  At the
current rate of progress, they'll be little further forward by this time
next month.  How I detest the pointless paperwork that I have to do!

I'm very tempted by the 555tfs F-15s on the bottom of that page...if I
ever finish the hasegawa Bicentennial TF-15 I started 3 years
ago,first!

The F-15A that I mentioned is the air superiority blue aircraft from that
sheet.  Given that it is a single colour and there is little scope for
weathering as the aircraft was brand new, I must say that the subject
presents a stunning model.

As for the decals themselves, I recommend them very highly indeed.  They are
very thin, well printed and the whites are opaque.  I have Wolfpak sheets
001 and 004 and I'm seriously consdiering investing in the other two.  I'm
hoping that WolfPak continue to produce such interesting sheets.

it must take major balls to fly an unarmed spit in daylight over hostile turf.

It seems that the Spitfire XI was the ideal aircraft for the job. It could
fly at an altitude that made it almost invulnerable to interception.  The
few aircraft that *could* intercept it were far less maneuvrable. In every
case the defensive tactic was simply to start turning steeply.  The likes of
the He 219 couldn't maintain the turn and would stall out.  The only other
candidates were jets or rocket aircraft.  The Me163 had one chance for a
cannon strike. However there are no documented accounts of the Komet being
used against any Allied recce aircraft. They were more effective attacking
formations rather than single aircraft. The Me262 could intercept recce
Spitfires with ease and they could maintain the turn simply because of the
power that they could produce. However they ran out of fuel very quickly.
Spitfire XIs were basically a flying fuel tank and so had fuel to spare.
There is at least one documented account of a Spitfire XI being intercepted
by an Ar 234, but the turning tactic proved effective against the (slightly)
greater endurance of that aircraft as well.

none of those oddball ju86 high altitude models was an interceptor, was it?
i would love to build the, i think p with the huge add-in wing panels that let
it go to 40,000 feet. it was even more awe-inspiring than the usaf recon
cranberries with the huge inserts.
the 86's were prbably too slow, even at that altitude.
yeah, my w green wrplanes of the second worl was has a good bit of info.
gotta love that nose section!

No photos now (tomorrow after the BufCon, I could take some and post
to the binaries site). The conversion kit offered the new wingtips,
the diesel engines and the fuselage nose. Not a hard conversion, and
one of their better ones for detail, it still required a lot of
fitting and sanding; as they say, patience IS a virtue. The only parts
I wasn't completely happy with were the engines, they seemed kit of
flat.

Mad-Modeller - 13 Apr 2008 06:14 GMT
Well, since last night was dark and stormy here, I actually worked
downstairs for a couple of hours.  I had previously dunked my 1/100 F-4
snapper in paint cleaner and now it got the putty re-applied.  Working
with a new tube of Squadron Green was refreshing after working the last
year or so with that constipated tube of White.
I also performed the same task on the second F-4 and attached a
couple of bombs on the Skyraider's underwing racks.  Interwoven with
that was detailing the interior of my '70 Challenger kit.  This was one
of R-M's die-cast kits (just the body) and little needs to be done to
the body.  The 440 was de-rated to a 383 with parts fron a Lindberg '64
Dodge 330 kit.
Beyond that I have an old Aurora F3D in the stripper at the moment.
Once out and cleaned up, it will have the markings filled in and the
projected colour scheme is for one operating over Korea at night, ie.
black with red lettering.
