There's a new moderated board that might be of interest.  It's categorize
but not genre specific, so anyone can find something of interest.  It'
layout is loosely based on StarshipModeler (with their blessing).  I thin
it's worth a look, then we can let the pinhead spammers have RMS since n
one seems able or willing to fix the problem.

I don't like forums and have no need for a moderator. I'm doing fine in
this newsgroup with my filters. I'll be here when you find out it is not
as instantaneous and is lacking in searching features as is a newsgroup.

Things are quiet there right now, but I expect that it will build up
over the years, just like rms did.

I set several filters - unsubscribed in outlook, re-subscribed in Outlook -
and poof all gone. You'll loose a few legitimate goolge posts maybe if there
even are any - but that's what they get for dealing with a out of control
service,

Christ, you'd think I was suggesting people abandon their wife and kids, o
quit modeling altogether.  Everyone's bitching about all the spam here, s
I thought I'd offer up a possible solution.  Excuse me all to hell.
Generally I like it here too, but I can't find or figure out any type o
filtering that will work.  I'm not a computer geek.  I don't know wha
newsreader I use to get here, or how to figure it out.  All I know fo
sure is I use IE/ Yahoo as a browser and I scroll down my favorites lis
to Rec.Models.Scale, with an address o
http://www.talkaboutcrafting.com/group/rec.models.scale and I get here
and the top of the page says "Talkabout Network".  I've emailed them thre
times and gotten no replies.  There are no mechanics in place here t
filter anything short of my email address.  There was a suggestion earl
on in the original thread about downloading some filtering program, hi
run, add this or that line, etc, etc.  That might as well been written i
Chinese for all the sense it made to me--like I said, I know sh.t fro
Shinola about computers.  If anyone has any real suggestions, that mak
real sense, without the smartass comments, I'll be more than willing t
listen

buzz off. you're basically spamming a group not needed.
nothing hard about filters.

I haven't put any involved filters in place, just killfilled the
specific addresses it was coming from, and the spam outbreak seems to be
tapering off over the past few days.

I've implemented some filters for specific keywords in the subject line
- like OEM, discount, fake, etc.  It's working wonders across all my NG
subscriptions.
