Hi Folks, does anyone out there have access to a decent set of viggen
plans, have the airfix kit and would like to do something with it
rather than my usual OOB build. Have access to several build websites
for encouragement, but have yet to find a decent set of scale plans,
even from my usual sources (Russian & French sites)!
As always thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
Doug.

There is a place that aims at RC flying airplanes, but their stuff is
good, if a bit expensive. They have thousands of scale drawings and
photo sets. I forget the name of the place, but pick up (or look in a
library) an issue of an RC mag, or Flying Models mag, and they
advertise in the front with a fair size ad.

Before going down that route I'd check that they really are scale. RC
designs (even scale ones) often have compromises to ensure they will fly. I
would certainly imagine this would be the case with such an unusal
configuration as the Viggen.
Cheers,
Nigel

No, these are not PLANS for a model, they are scale drawings from
which you then develop model plans. Now, even so, there is no
guarantee about how accurate ANY commercially available plan is. I
remember as a kid being so impressed by the detail of drawings by such
draftsmen as Nye and Wylam that used to appear in model airplane mags.
I then was chagrinned later to read discussions on how these drawings
were FULL of errors :-(
BTW, I think we in this group need to be careful how we use terms like
plans and drawings and such. There are specific meanings. I know I am
frequently guilty of such loose usage myself, but this thread is
pointing out the difficulty of misusing such terms.

Ah, that is the place I meant, but did not have the name or URL handy.
Thanks, Curt.
