Just opened my news reader and all of the alt. groups were gone. Many
thanks to ATT/SBC, they succumbed to pressure from the PC police.
Does anyone out there have a site where one can recapture the alt.
groups? Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ray

There may be some free news servers out there that carry binary groups, but
most free servers will only carry the non-binary alt groups (and the Big 8).
Your best bet is probably to look into a pay news server service.

After having several go-arounds with my carrier (Verizon) and some of
the other local carriers who blamed the State of New York (in my area)
for their doinhg away with the alts. However all admitted that the
kiddie-porn pushers haven't been slowed down one bit. Truth be told,
they didn't get one nickle from the UseNet and are always looking for
reasons to dump it. Wait a couple of years and they might bring it
back - for a "slight" additionoal fee.....

I'm a Comcast customer and they're still on my list of available NGs. I
believe they use GigaNews, but under a different name for our connection.
