Back when I bid on stuff, I would often click on an item only to find
that it wasn't what I had thought (either my mistake or a misleading
or incorrect title). Or it just wasn't worth what the bidding was
at,including the opening bid. A reserve was a real turn off to me.
Sometimes I would just be looking to see what there was to see. Or to
see how the item up for bid compared to another. Or just to see what
similar items a seller might have up for auction(for ex if seller had
a Mustang part, to see if he had others)
I am sure there are other reasons.

I know a guy who sells old kits. He was saying that some rare kits
don't have as big a market as you'd think. The demand is low because
everyone who wants a vac-form Fairey Fruitbat already has one.
