I am near to atatching a heavily framed vacforme'd canopy to my latest
aircraft model. Can someone sudgest the best way to mask the area's
that I need to keep clear when all there is to define the outline of
the actual glazeing are fine recesses in the thin material?
Thanks in advance

I use the same technique as on cast canopies. It is indeed a bit harder
and calls for more judgement on where the line should be, but it still
works okay. Use a good tape, like the fine Tamiya stuff.

For the really tough ones Bare Metal Foil works well.

I have tried to burnish some Tamya tape onto the canopy but have had
no sucess in finding the slight depretions where the edges of the
frame are.
Would useing Maskol be a reasonable alternative ?

Trust your eye and not feel. Look at pictures or three views and put
the edges where they should be, not where the molding forces them. Do
it by sight, not feel. Sometimes the moldings are not that accurate.

Hey Gondor: I tried something on my 1/48 scale Horsa glider's large
vac canopy: pinstripe tape! I found the correct width and color on
Micro-Mark, and it worked out great! See www.geocities.com/horsadio
. In this case, it was easy to chose the color (black); the I arrived
at the width by estimating the width of the actual framing, and
divided it by 48.
