yes, that is one great movie - notice how the crappy remake is never
shown ????

now if we could get them to stop showing the 1976 King Kong movie we
would really have something.

i have seen the remake on my satellite service. it's on a channel  i almost
never watch. i call it the sh.t movie channel.
not one good movie in a month of observation. the law of random chance would
have forced at least one, so they must suck by intention. their advertising
reflects the quality of programming ie; it's vince for slapchop, or any other
annoying douche.

The worst part is when Vince with Shamwow or Slapchop is more
interesting than the movie...!!!

If that's the case it's time for the cyanide capsule.

Must be AMC.  My father would be aghast at what they've done to his
favourite movie channel.  There're damn few 'American' movies and most
are not classics and won't be for several decades hence.

I dunno, when the price of gas spiked last year I would have ~loved~
to see some big ape stomp on a few oil company execs.....

Money fund managers were the problem last year, as well
as this year. Certainly the big oil execs were not adverse to
raking in the profits (or us over the coals), but the money
fund managers were responsible for $147.00/barrel crude prices.

I think the reason it "only" ran up to $73.00 this year
was the bath some of the managers took last year when the bubble
finally burst was still fresh in the minds of the managers.
Nor did all of the "obummer bucks" help - a lot of extra cash,
you knew it was going to be invested somewhere...

I'll bet you love those commercials that the industry is running right
now about the horrible taxation from Washington!  Me, I just sit there
and holler, "Tax the snot out of them!"

I always watch it to the very end to see if the plane will take off!

you're seeing most parts of a man dying in the original film.

"If you needed extra water why didn't you come right out and ask me for it?"
"You wouldn't have given it to me!"
"You're damned right I wouldn't have given it to you".

I have to admit the flying scenes in the remake were pretty good though.

i meant the famous stunt guy who died making the original. i believe some of
that was in the release.
maybe i'm sick, but i couldn't hear someone saying, "take #2"
ok, shoot me......

That would be Paul Mantz. He died when the Fuselage broke behind the
"cockpit" and the nose went down, dug in, and an end over end ensued.
I remember the price paid for that footage every time I see the movie.
YouTube has the original crash, some of his other work and a pair of
Beaufort crashes that are painful to watch.
