Real reason might be that they weren't getting any profit in carrying
these, so they got dumped.

Before AT&T dumped their's, they admitted that Usenet traffic amounted
to > 2 Tb per *day*

I use Astraweb's 'pay by download' system. $10US for 25Gb has lasted
me since March with several Gb left. The only bin groups I look at are
models.scale, multimedia.aviation and pictures.aviation. My own ISP
has SFA groups other than local chat.
