Just got back from seeing the movie "Avatar" and I have to ask, is
anyone making or plan to make any of the harware from the film? This
would include the Battle Walker, the ersatz helicopter, the shuttle
and the, well the flying fortress for want of a better term. Figures?
That movie was GREAT!

Judging by the trouble Airfix had with BBC Enterprises over their
first foray into the realms of Dr. Who models, it could be upto a year
before anything comes to light.

I'll just have to keep looking; I'm not really up to accurizing any
more Mattel toys.
I really liked that attack choppers; Mattel calls them Scorpions.
The walkers were great too.

What trouble was that?

It was shown as part of the BBC Money Programme documentary series
about Airfix's resurrection and one of the main strands in the
programme was where Airfix wanted to get the latest Tardis and Dr. Who
team onto the shelves for Christmas and the model for Agye Freeman's
character was not deemed as being correct enough especially the hair.
The hair was adjusted by the model makers and sent back to the BBC
for checking and it was months before they got back to Airfix while
Christmas came and went, etc...

I've got the documentary archived onto DVD somewhere.

The three that I am most horny about are the attack gunships - they
look like those aerial hunter-killers from the "Terminator" series.
That flying fortress reminds me of the Bell X-23A that I used to see
flying along over western New York back in the day. And as far as that
shuttle is concerned, I have a thing for large delta-winged funky-
looking flying objects.
I liked seeing the Battlewalkers on screen, but most likely wouldn't
build a model of one. I don't think that they'd translate too well
without looking like a toy.
