Bf 110 G-4 Exhaust Flame Dampers?

I'm in the process of building the ProModeler Bf 110G-4 nightfighter, and
before I attach the exhausts, I have a question. Should the trailing end of
the exhaust pipe be drilled out open or left closed? The photo references
that I have show views of the front, but nothing from the rear.

TIA.

You can open a hole in the center of the pipe certainly. I couldn't find a
picture either, I seem to recall louvers on the end of some pipes, the ProMod
kit depicts an expansion chamber/reduction pipe affair.

The exhaust stacks them selves end inside a long tube, the long tube should
show a hole in both ends

The front had a circular kind of grill arangment on it, the back was
straight through.

Thanks, all. I'll open the tail end of the pipes up.

You can get really nice flame damper grillwork in
both Eduard, and Aries aftermarket sets. Looks nice
too :)

You can also get a Mauve Bf 110 G4 and get a ton of white
metal parts, included in which are a set of exahust dampers
also....... They sure worked hard to make that Fujimi kit right.

I've got the ProModler G-4, and an Eduard set specifically for it -
48192.  Looks like it includes the damper grills, as well as all the
usual goodies.

I wouldn't think that any parts made for the Fujimi/Mauve kit would work
on the ProModeler one - I had one and got rid of it after hearing about
the Fujimi kit being a bit under sized.  Looking at the two kits side by
side, the Fujimi one is noticably undersized, if the ProModeler is
correct.  Anyway, I ditched my Fujimi kit and got the Revell G-2 and
ProModeler G-4 kits.

I'd also recommend grabbing the brass antenna set from Cutting Edge for
your G-4...as long as I'm spending your cash...

goodies for the trimpeter sm79? looks like a couple of
hundre bucks.

I think you may be out of luck on a camo mask...but that looks like it
could be a neat kit to build.

There are five Eduard etch sets available for the 1/32 Academy
F/A-18C...I have four of them, and the fifth one is in the mail.

Just placed a $120+ etch order today...

Ah...the scratch to build...it's a progressive, degenerative, long term
persistant sort of disease...it eats up whatever is left of my chrome
allowance...

Dont feel bad...

I got all the CMK, Eduard, and Aries sets for the Tamiya He 219.
Bout $150 + worth of (duplicated in some cases) aftermarket
goodies just for it :)

I don't get it. If Tamiya kits are so great what is the point in spending 5
times as much on "improvements"?

Well the cockpit is nice, but not *filled up* like the real thing.
(I've drolled over the Smithsonian H 219 for 15 years now)

The Aries cockpit set really does make the grade here, and is a
must for me. Should be for everyone who wants this level of detail.

The CMK engine set is just plain nice, and has beautifull cowling
panels, and reasonably decent engines, that with decent painting
and a little wire, and sprue here and there will be great !

The CMK control surface set also has very well detailed non
bulged, but flattened wheels all the way around. and the life raft
in it's compartment too The control surfaces are well done.

The CMK cockpit set gives a very well done main wheel bay
set, and wing mounted cannon set. The cockpit is only ok, the vac
canopy is absolutely one of the best I've ever seen. Shame you
would need two of them to pose open properly. But... you want
this set for the main wheel bays alone !

The Eduard set gives you some odd's, and end's, and an extra
PE seatbelt set to use somewhere else.

I plan on building the kit, and adding the best from all these
set's. I figure it should take around 6 months. Figure I'll start
this summer :)

And then there's my mediocre 1/32 Revell Tomcat...so far, the
aftermarket list includes: Teknics cockpit, Technics LANTIRN Pod,
Cutting Edge AIM-9's, Eduard exterior etch set (meant for the Tamiya
kit), CAM Resins GBU-10's, and CAM Decals for VF-41.  Been on my for
over a year now due mostly to scratch building in the gear wells and on
the landing gear.  Hopefully I'll finish it by years end...but I have a
1/72 F/A-18F and a Trumpeter SA-2 that look like they'll get done first.

Why settle for "great-good" when you can have "greater-good"?  Somtimes
ya just gotta feed the habit...

Or sometimes you just want to do something different than what is in the
kit.  Either way, it's fantastic to have the option.
