I have done one of these in the kit markings/cam scheme. Excellent kit
and the only act in town as far as I know. I have another that I will
build when I decide on the colour scheme.
Rigging will be a challenge. Legend has it that when they wanted to
check out the rigging after an overhaul, they would fly out over the
Georgia Strait, find a flock of seagulls and fly at it. If one gull
got through, there must be a wire missing.
Colour schemes:
RAF/RCAF: NMF/Aluminum dope or overall cam
Queen Charlotte Airlines: They operated four in two interesting
schemes. One is black with yellow trim (only one aircraft in that
scheme, Skeena Queen). The other is NMF/Aluminum dope with black and
yellow speed stripes, trim, etc. There are decals available for this
one.
We have recently found a photo that shows a couple of RCAF Strans with
the late-war RAF scheme of white unders and sides and grey/green
uppersurfaces.
I have quite a few photos of Strans. Feel free to contact me by
e-mail.
If you know of any source for additional kits, let me know.
Cheers,
Doc H
