Well, I got my sets of Italeri 1/72 British Red Devils and US 2nd
Infantry figures in the mail yesterday.
They are both molded in light tan (thanks to all who wrote to tell me
this ahead of time), and have detail I consider very good.
A quick look at the British troops suggests lots of ideas for little
scenes. Also, I don't recall seeing any wearing the red berets.
The poses are really good, and I already have some ideas.
The US troops are equally well-posed.
I've already picked out 5 of them to place in a small scene.
My favorite thing to do is create what I've named "postage stamp dios".
These are usually only a few inches in size, and feature a few or maybe
3 to 4 figures.
I've done several of these so far, and it's really fun coming up with
ideas for scenery they can be placed in.
And now the time comes to once again ask for input from the wealth of
great knowledge out there.
I know I can do some city-type scenes for the Red Devils, but what other
ideas for scenery would be appropriate for them?
As for the US guys, the box shows them in a forest-like area, but I
don't know if that's accurate. So, the same question is posed for the
2nd Infantry. I'm ok with being creative, and making ruins and stuff, so
please offer any ideas you wish.
As always, thanks very much for your input. If only I could post pics
here to show you the results of your help.
Take care, and happy building!

It is. The Command elements of the British 1st PB landed in a number of
clearings with gliders just outside of Arnhem, and these were bordered
by and inside of a large forest. A number of these elements were trapped
and/or ambushed by German armored and infantry units and most got
captured or destroyed before they could be rescued by XXX Corps armored
units. Read "A Bridge Too Far" by Cornelius Ryan for an excellent
account of the Arnhem debacle.
