Hi

Can't figure out if this is the right group for my question, but here it
comes.
I'm building a ship model, and I want a functional bowthruster.
The ones I can find in stores are too big.
The size I'm looking for is something like 20-25mm in diameter (3/4 - 1
inch).
An alternative could be a supplyer of small bevel gears.
If I could get those, I'll just make my own thruster :-)

So group, any ideas?

Hi Uffe. Take a look at www.smallparts.com they should have just what you
need to build a bow thruster. Another approach would be to mount an
electric
outboard motor in the bow of your ship so that the prop is inside a
horizontal tube open at both ends. E-mail me if you want further
clarification. Good luck. Pete

All outgoing mail is scanned by Norton Anti Virus software.

It looks like Smallparts has the goods :-)
Part number: GBM-4815
Just wondering, how much the shipping will cost, will ask them.

The only outboard motor I could find, is with a simple spring for bevel
gear.
That construction is sadly not solid enough, it wears pretty fast.
Is there a motor with toothed bevel gear, that you know about?
Still the size is important.

Thanks for helping :-)

Uffe I don't know where to get small outboard motors with bevel gears but I
do know they exist. A longtime friend (now deceased) collected them. Where
are you located? If I can be of any help in getting your parts from Small
Parts Inc. let me know. I live in Florida and Small Parts is also in Florida
so if they were sent to me, to forward to you, they would charge a 6% state
sales tax. Let me know if I can help. Pete

Robbe makes one about that size for their Berlin Kit. They sell it
seperately along with a couple other styles.

I've seen that one.
It's just too big for my application, there is not the space for it in my
boat :-(

'Krick' make bowthrusters.
In the UK I know they are supplied by Jotika, but I am sure they have a
website (in German if I remember correctly).
