"Best" model co. for pre WWII battleships?

their design seems so crude compared to the sleek WII battleships.  who
makes the best 1900-1930 battleship. Would like it to be at least 12"
or more in length (she would too)
1/700, 1/500?

    I don't know that there is a "best", because I am not
  sure there are that many making ships in this era. I'd suggest

Probably any on the Big Five by IHP...they would be BB's 43, 44, 45, 46
or 48.

In 1989 Glencoe did a USS Oregon - BB3 (kit# 08301 - scale 1/225) that
has the decals etc for the Oregon, Indiana, and Massachusetts and color
schemes for 3 time periods (so the box says).  She was launched in 1893
and distinguished herself in the Spanish-American war of 1898 so she may
be a little early for your needs.  A website I had bookmarked for the
day I build her says she's 19" long and 4" wide.
