Hi,
With all the chat about whether foam board can be used on a layout and
whether Liquid Nails would be able to glue it, I decided to find out
for myself. I was in LOWE's this morning and I read the label on a
tube of LIQUID NAILS that read, 'For gluing foam board'.

That's only half the answer to my question. How about using the same
Liquid Nails to glue down foamboard onto plywood??? Anybody know
whether that would or would not work?

I guess I'm about ready to forget foam board,  and instead, begin my
layout with plywood sub roadbed.

The Liquid Nails for Projects is the one that is for foam to anything
gluing.

Make sure that it is "for Projects".

There are lots of formulations of liquid nails; not all are safe for foam
board.

I've been using LePage Bulldog Grip PL300 Foam Board Adhesive for the
past year now.

Works great for foam to anything as well as anything to anything really.

I've used it for weighting rolling stock, Hydrocal to wood, you name it,
it seems to work fine.

And NO, I don't work for LePage. It's just a great product.

This is what the stuff looks like here.

Almost forgot, yes, foamboard onto plywood with this PL300 stuff is
A-OK. Just apply a generous amount and weight it down good overnight
with some full paint cans or 2 litre pop bottles and you're fine. In
fact, after a coupla hrs, if applied as a very thin coat, it's pretty
firm. But do the overnight thing.

I have used liquid nails and I have several pinkfoam corners clued to
plywood this way, works great! I also have used it to glue foam to metal for
a cover on duct work.
