Greetings,

Does anyone know if the RR-Track software
(http://www.rrtrack.com/index.html) is a good buy?

Good bye; your response it greatly appreciated.

Darryl,

I looked around at a number of different programs, when I got back into
this hobby. I found Right Track Freeware (http://www.atlasrr.com) to work
fairly well, for my needs.

Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession.  I have
come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance
to the first.

Thanks Brian, I looked into that, unfortunately it does not support
what I am using G-scale.

XTrkCad supports Gn3 and 1 scales (and works on both MS-Windows and *Linux*):

I've used it for several Lionel pre and post war O-31 and Std layouts.  It's
does a good job for flat sectional track layouts.  I find it a little
awkward for multi elevation layouts.  It is good for the supported accessory
items, but I have been disappointed at the slow rate of filling out the
library of Lionel pre-war accessories.  It is not easy to create your own
objects (structures, etc.) when images are not in the available libraries.
I had it on a laptop at a train show where I had set up my portable Lionel
post-war layout, received many favorable comments on the similarity of the
3-D presentation to the actual layout.  I did find one bug that loading one
complex multi-level layout file would repeatedly cause the program to crash.
The software designer said it was a problem with my computer as he was able
to load the file on his, but that didn't help me.  Fortunately I had saved
an earlier version of the layout file and was able to work from that.  I
bought RR-Track at a train show as a package deal, and feel I got my money's
worth for use with Lionel, but I plan to use a different program for my HO
layout.  Gary Q

It does not even look as good as the free "Right Track Software" from Atlas.
