Does anyone have a Lionel RSD-4? I'm repairing one for a friend. The power
truck was loose. At the outside end of the plastic power truck frame, a
metal inverted "T" shaped piece of metal has come loose from the plastic
slot it was initially wedged into. The shank of this metal piece rides in a
curved slot in the chassis to guide and retain the truck. I have
cyanopoxied it back in place.
There is an empty slot at the inside end of the power truck which looks like
it was intended for a second inverted "T", there is lube on the curved
chassis slot above this like a guide had once been there, and the power
truck sags when the loco is lifted off the tracks. On the other hand,
there is no loose "T" piece in the loco, two wires run right though the area
where the "T" would be mounted, and there are no wear marks around this slot
on the truck frame.
If anyone has a Lionel RSD-4, is the power truck retained by two posts
passing up through the curved slots in the chassis, or just by one?? Gary Q

Just the one. That slot is, as you have discovered, for the wires going
from the reversing mechanism/PC board to the motor in the power truck.

Many thanks for your response. The loco is owned by a family from
South-east Asia, and the parents are still learning English. I was not
looking forward to trying to explain a missing inverted "T" piece to them.
