Starting bid $25? Buy it now for $49? A veritable bargain. I'm
surprised no-one bought!
Railfan - 03 Jul 2005 12:09 GMT
Starting bid should have been 25 cents!

Just because something is from the 1960's doesn't mean it should have a
premium price!

Totally unsuitable ebay advertising. "LOOK" should have been spelt: "L@@K".

Also, the words "VERY RARE!!!!" (note correct use of upper case) were not in
place. I also did not see "collector" or "bargain" used at all.

As Steve observed, these are important things to look for when browsing
ebay for "authentic" rare items <g>

You mean like this:
The ad:

. . . . ! ! ! !     L@@K     ! ! ! ! . . . .
VERY RARE - AUTHENTIC- 1960's vintage MARX HO GAUGE train.....
This extremely valuable COLLECTOR'S ITEM is not likely to ever be seen for sale again
This EXACT SCALE model of the San Francisco, Hawaii & Orient RR locomotive and cars
is sure to increa$e many times in value over the years. This set is a TRAIN LOVER'S
DREAM come true!

The real story:

Incomplete set of Marx tinplate of minimal value flogged off on ignorant collector
wannabes.

Oh Gawd....How many times have we all seen this tripe?

                                                   O

If the SOO LINE had used popping out eyeballs in their reporting marks,
they'd probably be the ones owning CP Rail right now, and not vice versa.
