Well just received my E7 today so thought I would comment. First off I
email them and asked if the LL P2K E3/6 shell would fit. They emailed me
back and said no problem they fit right on, well they lied! I have an A
unit and it will need some frame milling to fit. Will call them and ask
about the B unit (I asked my question before they announced the B unit).
They also have some things it won't do as advertised. A note included
says something about a threatened law suit by MTH. The two items are 1)
Regulated Throttle Control and 2) Speed Control. This also appears to make
"Cruise Control" (i.e. BEMF) not functional also or it appears not to work
as stated.
Bottom line is I probably am going to have to completely take the engine
apart and mill the front of the frame.

I saw/played with the units SP, GN, CB&Q at the local hobby store the
other day. I thought the nose contours were a bit funny. They looked
more like a brass Oriental Limited (who never got the EMD curved noses
right)model.
The GN colors looked right on, to me. Especially when it was put next
to a Walthers GN 4-4-2 Pullman. The Walthers green is just a bit too dark.
The other big flaw I noticed is the exhaust/engine sound. First it has
only has one diesel instead of the two 567A's the real ones had. And
second the locomotive revs up apparently with track voltage. The engine
rev up after the locomotive begins to move. It should be before. I am
not certain if this can be adjusted or not. Seems like one should be
able to crack throttle position to notch 1 or 2 to rev the engines and
have the locomotive not move until the throttle hits 3 or something like
that. Does anyone know if this is programmable?
Finally there seem to be no dummies. That means I have to have three
powered units to pull 10 passenger cars that one could easily pull by
itself. sigh.

Not being a diesel guy but P2K was supposed to have got it wrong and
this one is supposed to be correct. Or at least that's what I have heard.

The list of features lists "dual diesel engine sounds". Not sure if I
can tell or not?

Mine works fine here but I'm using DCC.
>Does anyone know if this is programmable<
CV3 and CV4 are programmable. There's a note about labored sounds if
they are set to non zero settings. I'm assuming you are operating on DCC
and not DC!
