So my wife was watching CSI last night and I walked into see a scene where
there was a science project of a volcano and a bottle of AP.
They said something to the effect that it was the main ingredient in
explosives.

Anyone else see this?

Do a Google newsgroup search for MANY months ago when this first aired.

You saw a re-run.

This thread is a re-run.

Ok,
I don't watch TV so didn't know it was a re-run.

And many times in here the noise level is so high I miss threads completly.

I'm waiting for an episode of CSI that involves "Poopy Clay". Maybe "CSI New York"? More
likely "Dead Like Me". And hopefully not "Family Business".

I did.  They didn't really say AP was explosive (and in fact the
application it was being used for, a science fair, was very much
non-explosive).  The explosive mixture was AP + Gasoline.  But they
did refer to AP as "rocket fuel".  They also said anyone could get
it at a chemical supply house.  The perp was a teacher, btw, which
only supports the opinion that teachers should be strictly regulated.

Sounds like a good topic for Cross Balls.  Aye Reece?
Fred Shecter - 27 Aug 2004 16:34 GMT
Cross Balls is either a sports show on a religious channel or a religious show on an adult
channel.

Crossballs is on Comedy Central

And there's one "l" in Fire Marshal.

That's funny cause Ammonium Dichromate is used in volcano science
projects. Sure you heard right?
If so, it doesn't surprise me as Hollywood is full of idiots when it
comes to getting the facts right. Wait! I take that back... Hollywood
is full of idiots. (period).

HA HA, I made a funny!

Well, they both start with ammonium and end with -ate, what more do
you want?

We used to make volcanoes with potassium permanganate; just dribble some
glycerin on the top of the pile.

I saw the original airing of the program a few months ago and thought it was
interesting.  I didn't see any reference to it being tied to rockets, just
an ingredient for making the volcanic action occur in a science project a
kid was building.
