The Department of Justice (DOJ) claims that amateur and hobby rockets
can be used to make "light anti-tank" weapons with a range of up to five
miles.
DOJ Letter:"These large rocket motors could potentially be adapted by
terrorists for use in surface-to-air missiles capable of intercepting
commercial and military airplanes at cruise altitude and for use in
"light anti-tank" weapons capable of hitting targets from a range of
nearly five miles."
According to the military they're most accurate weapons against tanks
are 3.1 miles, according to the DoJ our unguided fibre glas terrors are
able to wipe out light armor at five miles. I'm going to put in a
resume to the DoD, as it's obvious I can do better the Thiokol, or
Lockheed who are wasting millions of my tax dollars. I'll need to
stockup on Pro 38s. I have a model rocket hear me ROAR!
Only in America can these blowhards even find a job.

According to Last weeks "Periscope" article in NEWSWEEK (August 25, 2003
issue, page 6). Ashcrofts Patriot act is in trouble.
snipped from the article>>>
"140 local governments - including 3 states (unnamed) have passed
resolutions condemning the act as an infringement od civil liberties.
Some of those resolutions even ban state law-enforcement officials from
cooperating with the Feds on cases that use the Patriot Act-authorized
techniques"
Snip off<<<
AND later in the article it states:
snipped on>>>
"The anxiety at Justice is in tensified by the fact that the
anti-Patriot Act campaign is being driven by a coalition that includes
such diverse groups as the ACLU and Phyllis Schlafly's Eagle
Forum....recent poll numbers showing 55percent of the public still backs
the act."
Snip off<<<
At least some of the population are awakening and becoming aware

He wouldn't be on the tour if it he didn't feel like it needed promoting...
they must be losing some confidence in the Act. You don't waste time going
'round reselling something that is already sold unless you are facing a
potential "buyer recall". I think it is a good sign and indication of
general populace sentiment on the issue.

<smartass mode on>
Since hobby rockets are more than adequate to shoot down aircraft and destroy heavily armored tanks from 5 miles away, why has the government spent bookoo (of our) bucks on missile systems from the primes? They could have hired Jerry to do it for a fraction of the cost! ;-)

Looks like the paranoia is slowly spreading.
The angstmongers should watch some WWII footage of unguided missiles
being used against moving targets. You need dozens of them to actually
hit the target let alone destroy it. An M1315 against a 747? I doubt
you'll hit it if not by chance.
Even if you take the rocket motors away from the public, will it keep
püotential terrorists from using rockets as a weapon? Nope. See NY
harbour ten days ago.
Why spend thousands of dollars and time and brain on constructing a
homemade missile that you can't effectively test when there's an easier
way to do this? Buying ready-to shoot missile systems from some dark
channels is a much more cost and labour effective way to terrorize.
Maybe Mr. Bush and fellows should stand in front of a mirror and read
out aloud what they're proposing - things written on paper often appear
smart until you read it out aloud.
My 0.02 only.

I think Lucifer is multiplying.
This is almost getting comical and scary at the same time. And these people
are supposed to be protecting us?!? WE are all in trouble.
This seem like a last ditch effort of a personal vendetta gone bad by the
administration. We have the might to get rid of terrorist, but we need
someone with BRAINS now!
I would like to see how an unguided missile will hit an BARN, yet alone
anything else from 3+ miles. Those terrorist must have one hell of a good
aim. NOT!

Time to start reprinting those "I'm not afraid of America, but I am
afraid of my government" bumper stickers the NRA used to print. Just
replace the old musket on them with a rocket.
Jeez, people are even dumber than I thought, and trust me, I wasn't
overly optimistic before.
michael motta - 30 Aug 2003 01:54 GMT
I know everyone hates a smart a.s but here it is welcome to dealing
with the federal gov. How many NRA members do we have here? I hope all
of you because any group who will fight for freedom to do the things
that are percieved as dangerous to our country is a group I want to
belong to. I'm talking about real freedoms not I can't enjoy my hobby
but the basic god given freedoms the all humans are afforded and those
that are specifically stated in the bill of rights. It's not about
rockets guns but about simply being left alone to pursue life liberty
and the persuit of property! Happiness was a write in. So please
don't correct me.
If you want to realise whats going on I suggest a book called The
Creature From Jeckyl Island. 500 pages of boring dry reading about our
finacial system and the money trail of control.
I hate Ashcroft for the Home Boy Security Act. I hate Clinton for the
Gun Control Act of 94. They are just the puppets of the masters and
the masters are the ones who control the cash flow. Follow the green
paper road of fraud and see who the wizards really are.
Why we give billions to other countries knowing they can't pay it
back.
How is it that if I have $1 i can turn it into $9 more with the wave
of the pen or a keystroke
Who really controls the politicians and why they do it?
Why is Warren Buffet helping Arnold If you were that rich we wouldn't
ever see you.

Not to steal an off topic thread, but does NAR have a bumper sticker? They
could send one free with a $25 donation or some such. I would gladly give
up my 'membership' book everytime I renew.
