I've always wondered, is the company name pronounced "estis" or "esteez"?

Doesn't that depend on what part of
the country you pronounce it in?

I thought it was pronounced "Estes". :)

BTW I have only ever heard it pronounced "esteez" but if you go to NARCON
this year you can ask Vern himself.

That's because it rhymes with Industries.

I'd say it depends solely on how Vern pronounces it.
Roy Green - 31 Jan 2005 05:03 GMT
Vern pronouces his name "ES-tis", whereas the owners of a certain HVAC
company here in Atlanta pronounces it "esteez", so yes, it probably does
depend on the region.

Imagine how embarrassed Vern will feel when he finds out he's been
mispronouncing his last name all these years!

I thought that was on their website somewhere.

Estiss.

Just ask Vern.

I also know several other folks who say they're not related to Vern who have
the same name and they all say Estiss. Then there's the park by the same
name...

I always bypassed the issue by calling him Vern :)

Eric,

For what it's worth I've been saying esteez since I started a rocket club in
the sixth grade back in 1971.

When I worked the "Make It Take It" booth at the East Coast Hobby Show,
the folks there were quite adamant about the proper pronunciation.

"Est-iss"
