they quit the business.

Don't know why you would say that, they just had an announcement from
ROL yesterday morning about some new kits.  Just because you're not
getting an immediate email reply isn't a reason to go ape.  And frankly,
you do a great disservice by posting a question as a statement (your
subject header).

30 days is the legal standard.
Plus time for mailing.
It applies even if (rapid) email or Fedex is used.

It didn't have anything to do with something ordered or mailed or anything.
It was a question on the version of SpaceCAD that I have. I answered within
a day a question which had already been answered many times here on RMR.

In short, you have no standing to complain, yet you are.

Kids, take a hint from the IT industry - just because you sent an email
doesn't mean they got it; just because you got it, doesn't mean you
read it.

In the old days, you could be assured a message was received if you
didn't get a bounce message; now spam filters at all levels are
destroying or diverting legitimate email. It could even be sitting in a
local spam folder right now.

You should base NOTHING on the fact that a messages wasn't answered.
DDP - 24 Feb 2005 14:10 GMT
I'll put it this way: I replied to the first email that I *received* from
him.
But still, the question was already answered 2 weeks ago here on RMR.

and the moral of the story is "?" Or better yet, any business today should
know that a lapse here or there can have an immediate and profound impact to
the bottom line. The really sharp companies make sure there is a "customer
relationship program" in place. If not then you will continue to see
companies come and go.

Easy to say... but remember that most rocketry dealers are
'One-Man' operations, not big hobby shops that can afford a
customer-support staff.  The guy that answers the phones is also the
guy that fills the orders, ships the parcels, stocks the shelves,
etc., and most likely won't have the time to *immediately* answer
questions.

Just chill out, and don't expect instant gratification.  :-)

I bought from ReBAR for the first time, a couple weeks ago (got
SpaceShip One & an Edmonds glider). I was very pleased with the
transaction.....in the confirmation from him, he mentioned that it
wouldn't go out till the following week. I found it helpful that he was
keeping abreast of the timeframe.
That whole "Out of Business" heading seemed entirely too over the top,
to me.

I have had several people report the same thing. I actullly TRY to read
and reply to email and some folks' messages get lost in the ether.

The "proper" way to resolve a "mail order" is to send a LETTER by MAIL
and demand a resolution within 30 days.

Interesting reply, Jerry.  You don't seem to mind using the forum to
push your product.  I guess the fact that you can't make things center
around you over there gets under your skin, eh?  How dare they refuse
to feed your ego.
TRF is The Rocketry Forum.  They talk about rocketry over there, kind
of like they do here sometimes.  Or did at one point.

Still would, if all the damn web-geex hadn't deserted the newsgroup!

(My home compuer and dialup connection aren't up to doing the web-forum
thing, and I refuse to establish personal on-line interactions that I could
only carry on when I was at the office!)

The use of a forum is evidence it SHOULD have value.

When moderators erase citations of law in direct reply to the very
thread asking for it and the title and posts made, that concerns me.

When they leave in POLITICS and cites from another "friend" it tells me
they have a double standard and are hypocrites.

The negative is a standalone fact.

It does not take away all the positive, but it does REDUCE it
measureably.

False.

False.

It seems attacking the messenger is your debate tactic. I suppose you
cannot see that actual substance ON-TOPIC is being regularly deleted.

But then since it is regularly deleted, how could you?

Oh, BTW replying to the "moderators" is not possible. The "PM" feature
crashes on send (TWO different browsers)!!

As I recall, you posted the same question on RMR on Feb 7th that you put in
your email to me the other day. It was answered by me and others right here
on RMR. Here's what I posted on  Feb. 8th:

You're right, Alan. The version I have is the newest shipment that arrived
just last week and says "3.0" on the box, but it's still the newest version.
They do that on all software. When you buy a piece of software in the store,
it might have 2.0 or 3.0 on the box, but when you install it, it might say
"version 3.001.2" or something. And besides, you can always download the
latest updates from within SpaceCAD itself, so you always have the newest
version :)

I'm sorry to have to report that they are still in business... <G>

I placed an order Tuesday after the ROL announcement that they had, and
the kits arrived today (Saturday).  Pretty poor customer service, I
guess... <G>
