U-type spring steel nuts

Anyone ever use one of theses bad boys to say fasten a nose cone to a body
tube payload bay so that the nose will not come off under regular ejection
stresses? It seems like it might also have applications of holding on
altimeter bay doors etc. It might be a touch tricky to slide one into a slot
(or maybe even low profile rectangular hole) but it seems it may be viable
piece of hardware to use in places where blind nuts might be less than
desirable.

Thoughts please......

BTW, if you are having problems envisioning exactly the piece of hardware I
am talking about, I can post some pics on ABMR.

Forgive my impetuous nature, but did anyone see this original thread I
posted a couple of days ago? Did no one have any type of comment on the
particular piece of hardware I suggested? Am I using a new piece of hardware
hardly anyone has considered using? Seems like a long shot to me.

Your thoughts (honest either way) please.

I Googled "Tinnerman nuts".
(U-shaped spring steel nuts)

this site looks like a good reference.

And here's a link to the particular type of u-nut that I am speaking of (the
first one on the page):

Seems all you would have to do is cut a slot to slide it in and a hole for
the screw to go through.

These nuts are used by IBM for mounting rack-mount computer hardware.
They work wonderfully in that regard.  They're just as strong as a
normal nut but without most of the weight.

I'd say use 'em if you can.
