Can anyone resommend a source for parachute materials - coated ripstop, seam
reinforcing tape (nylon) and that flat nylon cord the manufacturers all seem
to use, in particular. The ripstop I've seen at a couple of kite making
sites, but it seems pricey. The tape and cord I haven't yet found.

This is mostly for canopies under 96".

Thanks for any suggestions.

Thanks again, Erik. A great site. Maybe I should just email you directly
when I have parachute questions  ;)

Kite fabric isn't the best thing for parachutes.  It's way too "crisp", not
nearly as soft as what's used in parachutes.  As a kite builder, I've made
chutes from kite fabric but I liked sewing store ripstop better for chutes.
But it's not what's used commercially.  I haven't found that one yet.

How about a cheap umbrella for a chute canopy?  Just sew in the cords
and your all set.

I can see it now--I'll convert my  MAXFLI  golf umbrella into a
parachute....
Yeah, that's the ticket.

I picked up some Marvin the Martain toy umbrellas just for that purpose!
