The next CP Technologies solid rocket motor design course will be April
26 through April 29, 2007 in Casper, Wyoming. The class costs $195 and
includes the "How To Make Amateur Rockets" 2nd Edition bookset, all
motor/propellant materials and lunches. A $30 discount is given to
students who already own the 2nd Edition bookset. John Wickman, a
professional aerospace engineer, teaches the course. Participants do not
have to be US citizens and do not have to be members of any rocketry
organization to attend.

Participants will learn how to design both ammonium perchlorate and
ammonium nitrate composite solid rocket motors. They will be assigned an
individual maximum motor peak chamber pressure and pressure-time curve
shape and design a motor to meet those goals during the class. They will
make their individual motors and test fire them on the last day to see
how close they came to their design goals. Those attending the class
will make their own motor parts, mix and cast the propellant and
assemble their own motors. They will also learn about several different
types of igniters and make an igniter for use in their motor. Propellant
formulation as well as thermal and structural analysis of motors will
also be covered in the class.

People interested in attending the class should sign up as soon as
possible since the class size is restricted to six students. More
information on the class can be found at www.space-rockets.com/ae101

I guess you missed the fact that Brent has sold ROL to Kevin and Tim
recently. If they want to post news stories and work on restoring ROL to
it's former glory, good luck to them.

yeah, good luck, cause they are gonna need it.  the site has sucked since McWeinie bought it.  former glory. what a laugh. the only way that could happen is if the domain name expired and the original rol creator purchased it.

Such bitterness over a -website-. Do you need a hug?

I am personally glad to see that ROL is getting back on it's feet.  My
brother and I used to surf it many a late night as we first started out in
this hobby.  Info Central was a great tool to help design and build your
rockets!  Kevin and Tim are doing a great job, and I can't wait to see ROL
return to the great rocketry information site it used to be!

Not to take away from Kevin but I'd like to give some credit to
Darrell who was the creater of ROL 1.0.  Many people (including me)
stopped liking ROL when it bacame 2.0.  Darrell has done a nice job
with his latest creation -  Rocketry Planet.

Thanks Phil.  I appreciate the kind words.  While there has been a lot
of controversy surrounding Rocketry Online since I sold it and the
subsequent "upgrade" to 2.0, most people do not realize how much work
goes into running a vertical portal where people come to expect a daily
buffet.  I wish Kevin and Tim all the best, but it takes more than just
an established domain name to be successful in that market.

what's the matter erik, newsgroup access so limited in your part of the world you have to reach back in time to respond to a message about the current owners of ROL and the site in general? sounds to me like ya'll are talking about it and you came out to their defense.

i am also intrigued by your definition of "good job". if what they are doing defines a good job, then they get what they deserve. in his latest rush to post a cut-n-paste news release, one of the new owners forgot to even put the "[ROL]" in the title (with the missing space before the title, too, mind you). defining his style?

ROL used to be a great site. it was run in the ground by McWeenie who started this cut-n-paste mentality. one of the new owners is also the person who recommended the move to ROL 2.0. McWeenie wasn't a computer-oriented person, he relied on this new person's advice, therefore the old cut-n-paste mentality is intact and thriving at ROL, under a new ownership who thinks the new design looks great.

infocentral is a good idea that is being held hostage. it may be the only thing that saves ROL.

Interesting term, "held hostage."

The INFOcentral concept was born to be a graphical compliment to the
UseNET rec.models.rockets FAQ.  At the time, the largest Internet-based
repository of information about hobby rocketry was located in the RMR
FAQ, which was all text and lacked the graphical capability of the Web.

INFOcentral was created to be a community-driven web repository project
that was independent of any group or business interest.  This was so no
matter what organization or club a contributor was affiliated with, or
no matter what website or portal a contributor might be affiliated with,
they could feel their contributions were still being made to a neutral
destination that benefited the community at large.  That is why
INFOcentral was set up on a separate, independent domain name.  This,
along with the superb editorial guidance of John Coker, is what made
INFOcentral the great thing it became.  I may have created it, but it
was the community who built it.

From what I have heard about the future plans for INFOcentral, it may
soon lose its independence.  After being folded into the ROL site, its
independent nature will be over.  That segregation, like all
segregation, will hurt the community that built INFOcentral.
