Lots of fun today. High Schoolers put up about 60 different rockets, adults
had maybe 10 of their own. Lots of Estes Scissor Wings and all flew
perfectly.  had some scratch builds too including a 5 engine cluster Big
Daddy that self-destructed in flight. It looked like those old NASA videos
of the Atlas ICBM failing during flight.  Last rocket of the day was a
scratch built 6 engine D cluster. All lit perfectly unfortunately the
recovery failed and the rocket became a lawn Dart from about 2000 feet. All
in all, a good day for rockets ...no wind and no clouds.  Many thanks to all
who helped man the pits, including the Schulte Brothers, David Kucklish, and
JI. I couldn't have done it without you guys. Also, I might add that Daniel
Marbach earned his rocketry badge from the BSA today with three very
excellent flights of his Estes bashed kit.  Total flight count is unclear at
this point but I'm certain it was well over 120 flight with only 5 failures.

The Vaughn Brothers QuadCon launcher continues to work very well, the
RocketVision Quadpod functions as good as the day they donated it to us and
the Black Shy rail proved its worth on a couple of the bigger boys.

I forgot to add the best part. The Sure-Fire 12 is still working many many
years and hundreds of launches after being filled with dog urine the very
first day I got it.  It's a long story but the RD version is that I left it
hooked up for a few minutes out on my lawn. Rick the Wonder Pup, a dog who's
urine is classified with both the EPA and the AEC as a significant
bio-hazard and corrosive nuke waste, baptized it for me.  Needless to say I
had to unseal all of the hot glue, dry and clean the componenants and reseal
every thing.  many years later it still chugs on. I put it away last year
with a tad less than 13 volts reading on the meter and took it out yesterday
and it still had a hair less than 13 volts. 20 minutes on the charger and it
was ready to go. It lit the cluster of 6 Estes D motors perfectly after
lighting 5 other clusters of 4 and 5 motors as well as several
Crapperheads... all flawlessly.  If you are in he market for a really good
launch controller, you can't do better than a Sure-fire 12 in my book.
