For low power I converted a camera tripod to a decent launch pad. I use
it for low power but it should be sturdy enough for F/G. PVC tubing can
also be used for a decent launch pad as well.

About all it's really good for :-( It's got too many fatal design flaws to
be useful even for the small rocket that it comes with in the starter set.

What you want is Tom Beach's "Chad pad". I've got plans for a half size
version in http://eisner.encompasserve.org/~kaplow_r/glider.faq. Replace
the 4' 1x2 with an 8' (or 7'8") 2x4 and upgrade the 1/4" hardware to 3/8".
Drill holes in the top 2x4 to hold your launch rods. Drill them at various
angles if you need some tilt, or put rocks under the legs to tilt.

Sir, if I was building a weapon of mass destruction,
you wouldn't be able to find it.

Opinions are like a.sholes.....everyone has them. Mantis Shmantis,
just launch the dam rockets and use what you got.......any person
worth his salt can easily modify a Mantis to be a perfectly usefull
launch pad........contrary to what Bob Sponge Pants may say. Bob
routnley uses an adapter from 4" down to 1/4" made from a butt plug
and it accepts all the rockets he is able to lauch, of course his
buddies back gets singed and the hair on his a.s gets burned off but
it still works.....and by his swiiveling his hips or arching his back,
or rolling sideways on his belly he can easily angle the rod into the
wind..........
