It's sad. I remember when no one used profanity on the board and all were
careful to keep it family oriented. This used to be a good place for kids to
drop in and get some advice from us "big kids". Sadly, I'm afraid I can't
recommend the site any more. It used to be that I had my 11th grade students
lurk here for advice on their projects, parents would hid me now if I sent
their sons and daughters here. I hope we can turn this around. I really do.
We had some good times way back when. Some folks I haven't seen nor heard
from in years. Sue? Matt? the other Bob? John? I miss them all. What was the
big guy's name who wrote Rockets of the World? Where the heck is he?

Pete Alway. I've seen him in a recent issue of SpRocketry, but haven't heard
a post in a while.
I was here in the 90's, too -didn't post that much, but stopped in daily
for years, and still do quite frequently. I certainly recognize your name
RJ. There are still a few old-timers around, but posting is not as active as
it was then. There are forums that have likely taken traffic from the
newsgroup, as well.
Whodat - It stinks that you can't be yourself. I've wondered about your
pseudonym and comments that you've made that sounded like you were
expereinced in RMR, but now I'm more curious... I'll have to get the
squirrel moving and search my memory.

The internet in general and usenet in particular has become a very nasty
place. I always hated the use of psuedonyms and thought people who
recommended it were paranoid. I liked knowing people and having them know
me. But after certain problems last year I went incognito. Hence the
Whodat pseudonym.
Yes, at one time I was very active on RMR. I was a regular from the early
90's until just a few years ago. And I've been a steady lurker since then.
I've flown rockets since the late 60's and have experience up to large level
2 clusters, staged rockets, hybrids, electronics, supersonic and
experimental.
And yes, it stinks that we can't be ourselves.

The Original Whodat.

You mean, "nym shifting jerk A$$ Clown, a perfect example of what's
become of usenet". If everyone kill files the A$$ Clown we will not see
his crap. No sand box to crap in, he will leave. (:-) It's still a shame
we have to put up with such jerks at all. I would much rather talk about
the 1/3 scale V-2 two stage recovery system I worked on for most of the day.

Send the kids to TRF - it stands for the Teenage Rocketry Forum. It's
a perfect place for teens - it has chest beating and kids talking
about stuff they know nothing about as though they were experts and no
profanity.

Yep, sad is the word for it. The only faint hope is that the fool
abusing the group get tired of it and go somewhere else to play.

Might I suggest the closet? I figure it's just about time for Roid to
come out of the closet.
I just hope Roid doesn't take 'release the monkeys' too serious :)

Scuse me. If that isn't illegal, it's high time it was.
I'm all for free speech, and this isn't free speech.
It's the restraint of free speech.

These things happen when you don't abide by an ISP's terms of service.
ISP's do not guarantee free speech.
Generally, I would agree with you but not in the person's specific
case. Read his postings and you'll see what I mean.
