Tom, the new Estes D-Region Tomahawk kit (#2037) has some amazingly well
detailed parts including the fin can details you are seeking. You can
see some large photos showing the detail of the fins, fin can, etc. at
http://www.rocketryplanet.com/forums/showthread.php?t=443
What you are seeing on the fin can illustrations in the ROTW book are
actually fluting. You will see the detail in the photos mentioned above.
The January/February 1992 issue of "American Spacemodeling" has scale
data on the D-Region Tomahawk including color photos.

Hey Darrell,
thanks for the advice - ordered one to see and I even had an excuse
and explanation to my girlfriend...;-)
She was already wondering as to why all the plastic models and small
rockets (SA-2 Guideline, V2, Scout, now the Tomahawk) keep piling up
in my garage, she knows I usually don't fly fly stuff that small
anymore...I still am thinking about a smart reply when she sees the
massive tubes and nosecones I ordered...

Well, when you get (or she gets) tired of them piling up, let me know
and I'll drop you a mailing address. ;-)
