Does Comcast offer a newsgroups service?

The Comcast Newsgroups service, powered by Giganews has been
discontinued effective 9/16/08.

If you are interested in subscribing directly to a third party
newsgroups service, you can chose from one of several newsgroups
providers. You will typically need to establish a direct billing
relationship with the selected provider.

For those customers who have already subscribed to the Comcast
newsgroup service, powered by Giganews, your service will be
discontinued on 10/25/2008. To help ensure uninterrupted access to
newsgroups, we encourage you to select a new third party provider of
newsgroups before this date.

Will I continue to be able to access newsgroups once Comcast
discontinues Comcast Newsgroups?

Yes. While we are discontinuing the feature known as Comcast
Newsgroups, powered by Giganews, you can continue to access third
party newsgroups by subscribing directly with a newsgroups provider.

As of 6/30/08, Verizon offers only comp.*, humanities.*, misc.*,
news.*, rec.*, sci.*, soc.*., and talk.*.  

When I bought Forte Agent, it included 3 months of service from APN.
Aside from it not being included with COmcast service, I thought was
better than Giganews. http://www.forteinc.com
