Model Forum / General / Rockets / June 2009identifying Quest MicroMaxx motors
I have some Quest MicroMaxx motors. I got them a while back and I suspect they are all MicroMaxx I (1/12 A) motors. However the labels on the packs are slightly different, so it is possible I have some MicroMaxx II (1/8 A) motors as well. I'm wondering if there are any markings on these motors, or other ways to determine which type is which. In my casual examination of them they all look the same. However some are in packs which claim a maximum altitude of 200 feet and some are in packs claiming only 120 feet maximum altitude. I reallize these are exaturated claims, but could it be that I have some that are 50% more powerful than the others? Thanks. Easy way to tell: MicroMaxx I - 1 motors have smooth plastic casing with a "Nozz-hole". MicroMaxx II - 1 motors have a spiral wound hard paper casing (looks like a teeny classic Estes tube coupler) and they have an actual nozzle made of clay with a nozzle shape.
