Wise move indeed... I hope you also abandoned the insecure heap of trash
that is called Internet Explorer.
Various security experts are so concerned with the lack of security with
this piece of junk that they have published articles advising people to
download another browser.. Mozilla, Opera, Firefox.... whatever.
CERT are advising that the security is so poor that it is easy for you
to be redirected to sites which appear to be genuine, but which are in
fact spoofs used to obtain your details, it is also easy to introduce
software through this piece of junk which will record your keystrokes
and passwords and relay them to somewhat dishonest persons.... ideal
situation if you do online banking and/or use your credit card online.
One security bod publicly announced that I.E is so badly flawed that it
will be impossible to fix it.
Various things can (and should be) turned off to limit some of the
damage but as I don't use the damned thing I never kept the info.
Best bet ............ BIN IT !

Even if you do use another browser M$ have embedded IE so much into the OS
that it still gives you security issues even if you don't use it.

Good old Bill.... I have seen it suggested that the only way to improve
M$ security is to completly re-write the windows code. I forget how many
lines of code they reckon is in there, but it would take approx 10
years to go back to the start and do it again... but properly this
time !
Thanks be that he never built model aeroplane engines.. or even worse
