B&Q have a small compressor on offer at the moment... 1.5hp, 6 litre tank,
QR airline, spraygun, duster, tyre infator and nail gun... all for 52
quid...

The compressor is a bit noisy, but works... come with regulator and two
gauges. Spray gun is gravity feed (good) but is a bit big for my needs...
1.5mm nozzle.

Got mine from B&Q warehouse in Gateshead

What sort of price was the scroll saw?

Scroll saw was £29.98 and it is excellent....It is made by Precision as is
my Mini drill.....it's meant for wood but I have managed to cut a new
chassis from Dural Aluminium plate (for my Nephews R/C Car) with it no
problem at all......only took me 15 mins with the scroll saw compared to
several hours with a Hacksaw.
The saw is good heavy duty construction too.......spare blades are £9.98p
for pack of 10...so worth it really.
Mine is seeing plenty of use now.

I bought one a while ago and wondered how the heck I had managed without
one before ! They are heavy construction and are really usefull.

You were done !  Don't know where you got the blades. I got a pack of 10
about 2 weeks ago. £4-90'ish  from a small independent tool shop rather
than one of the sheds. I usually find that a lot of stuff is cheaper if
you can find a source other than the sheds.

Reg, the sheds around here are cheaper than the local independants...that's
why I went there in the first place....I normally always do shop around and
actually found these to be the cheapest Locally.

Apart from the example I quoted above some further price savings ...

Hand scroll saw  B&Q  £9 somethingish with 1 blade
Hand scroll saw local DIY shop  with  10  blades   £4 - 90

Heavy duty mains switch for shower unit  B&Q     £15-- somethingish
(fortunately they were out of stock so I had to go elsewhere)

Heavy duty switch from small electrical supplier  £4 - 50   !!!!

Granted some things in the sheds are cheap, but a heck of a lot of
things aren't.

Too true. I remember 'pair of reduced bath taps from £39.99 to £15'
Got home, found they were different from basin taps, went out and got a
pair of basin taps from hardware shop for £8.99 IIRC. Bath taps were
£9.99 IIRC

Impressive.  Sadly my local bean queue doesn't stock it,  I'll have to
head for the nearest warehouse tomorrow...

Thanks,

Indeed - according to the box it's 99 dB :-(     Ouch.

That would be more than I'm prepared to put up with indoors.  Shame
because for the £79 that the Croyden bean queue were asking, the kit
would be an astonishingly good deal.

I built mine a box made from several layers of carpet tiles. It's quiet
enough now... but it's no longer portable.

Hmmm... possible refinement :  box with a lid ?

:-)

It is easy to build a small box around it with some insulation inside.  Cuts
down the noise considerably.
