Jets have a large HF component that makes them quieter at a distance
than conventional models, fora given DB reading.
Like teh way that lightning cracks close by, but booms at a distance.
The HF stuff gets rapidly attenutated.
I'd be more concerned over safety than noise. A LOT of impact energy in
a fast jet, and a greater fire risk I think, tho these are not my sort
of model... so best to get advice elsewhere.

Indeed. But can your average club member with a gas turbine live up to
his standards?

Which is why one of the limitations being considered is only experienced 'B'
pilots being allowed to fly turbines.
As we are surrounded by agriculture it may be that a 'time of year'
restriction be in place to minimise possible fire damage to crops.
Maybe the 'restrictions' will outweigh the benefits and members won't
bother.
But it doesn't change yesterdays brill demo.

If it offends you, go away and don't come back.
Where is it stated that this group is not an adult group?
All Newsgroups are adult in nature.

it does not offend me one little bit but the younger reader might well be
,its an aircraft group and should be treated as such I would not expect
these words in RCM&E or any similar publication so why is it ok here I don't
think it is Pile and if you think its ok that's your opinion to which your
entitled to but why force foul language on an unknown age group and I don't
really see your helpful post cropping up to often so perhaps its you that
needs to go as it takes more than a few obsenities to make me,I do find the
killfile quite useful in dealing with the small minded minority that really
hack me off which I did not think the Natural Philosopher really deserves to
be put in as his posts normally are very usefull which is more can be said
for yours?

I have never seen a 'young un' posting in here.
If you want a moderated newsgroup try www.rcgroups.com

you cannot see anything though a vdu unless you have a all seeing eye, how
can you tell someone's age through some text on a screen you have no idea of
my age and I have know idea of yours with any certainty so saying you have
never seen a young one on here is a bit of guess work to say the least
I never said I wanted a moderated group a polite one will do as swearing
does nothing for our cause and if you feel like taking a cheap shot at me
feel free to do it offline but don't ruin a newsgroup for the sake of a bit
of one-upmanship and a cheap dig you never know who's watching

Some guy in America (?) has just recently died at 114 years old.
He had passed his medical at 108 and was still driving a car. He gave up
driving the same year as he was fed up of too many drivers going slow.
I therefore consider myself a 'young un'
Nowt but a bit of a sprog.

Considering what newsgroups are easily available
(alt.binaries.anything you can possibly imagine, and some things you
didn't think physically possible etc.) would you let your child have
access to a newsreader? So, they might see the odd swear word in this
group, but that is nothing to what is out there in the big bad world
of usenet.
OK, maybe the strong language should be kept in check, but Nat's
comment is exactly what you would probably hear if you were having the
same discussion at the local field. Don't give him a hard time.
Anyway, have you listened to any kids speak recently? Try travelling
on a bus full of school kids and listening to the language - it will
be a real "ear-opener".
If you want a moderated forum for your kids to use, try rcgroups /
rcuniverse / eflight etc, same sort of topics, but with a "big
brother" keeping an eye on things .
Just my opinion,
Ian.
