I have flow'n 2-strokes for a few years now and decided to give the
4-strokers a go.....and starting to regret it :-).

My brand new OS -fs52s, won't run without glow power..

it starts fine (after priming) and runs and rews as it should ( needle is 2
turns out ).It also runs low rpms for as long as I tested.( 2 mins. )  BUT
as soon as I remove the glow. the engines sputters and dies. or just dies.

any pointers would nice.

Martin.

i) What fuel are you using?
ii) You're not trying to lean 'em out like a four stroke are you?
iii) Is the cut at high revs/low revs/both?
iv) How much running have they had?

have a look here:

also, 4 strokes require a type F or equivalent glow plug
and
it's not unheard of for a new glow plug to be bad
it's not unheard of for a new engine to need the valves adjusted either

from WAY over here,  it sounds like the engine may be set a little rich and just
drowning the fire,  but that's just a guess

A pretty good guess IMO

Change your plug first, fit an OS 'F' type, then see what happens.

I have run (raced) OS and YS 4 stroke engines with the ol reliable K&B 1L.
You don't NEED a four stroke plug to run right.

Sounds like it is rich and probably needs about a gallon more breakin!
