Can email already scanned jpg's of "Babe Bee" and TD .09 manuals and should
have a few others in the library if you are unable to download information
from:
Cox  http://www.mh-aerotools.de/airfoils/cox_start.htm
Cox Engines  http://www.mh-aerotools.de/airfoils/cox_start.htm
COX Control Line, COX R_C, COX Free Flight, COX Glow Engines
http://www.commonwealth.net/cgi-bin/displayproduct.pl?select=COX&selectkey=prodl
ine&groupkey=prodgroup&showsort=no

and other information under "Engines,Plugs,Tuning, Petrol, Turbines,
Mufflers, Cleaning, etc"
sub heading "Glow, Diesel & CO2 Engines - "

thanks for that alan
however,i cant find user guides on any of those sites i am particularly
looking for the thimbledrome .049,have used these cox engines before (35
years ago)but my memory must be failing according to the quickstart spring
it looks like this one runs backwards(or do they all)

It's probably been more than 35 years since I last used one of these, but my
fading memory is that they had a nasty tendency to run backwards when you
attempted to start them by hand anyway.  Wasn't the spring engineered to
take advantage of this anomaly so that the engine initially fired for
backwards rotation, then it "coughed" at TDC and started running the right
way ?

all the little reed valve Cox's run happily both ways as I found out with a
Cessna 337 push pull twin, trouble was both were running the right way when I
launched and when I got to the bits the fuselage was happily going backwards
with the rear engine still running

Oops!  First time I ever heard of someone twinning Cox's like that, and an
amusing story.

I seem to remember that if you were using a Cox engine, you would always
carry an old rag in the flight box, to chuck at the prop to stop the engine
on the numerous occasions it would start backwards.

An old rag?  What are you, a girly wimp?  FIngers in the prop work
just fine.

The spring starter works by hooking the prop into it, winding backwards
about 3/4 of a turn, and then releasing.  Trying to start these engines
without the spring can be tricky, and yes, they will often start up
backwards, especially if over-primed.  One point - they do need 15% nitro
fuel to run properly...

cheers
