The bane of my life is finding that very fine gauze used to keep muck
out of fuel. I use 'er at 'omes discarded panty hose as a poor
substitute.

So you helpful Poms, where can I buy a sheet, roll or whatever of
suitable gauze ?

I never bother I just filter it with a normal filter in-line when
filling and another filter in-line with the carb but it does beg the
question how the muck is getting in to start with ?  perhaps you need to
stop it getting in then no need to filter

I can't believe an Aussie has to go all the way to Pommy land just to
find a filter for fuel.
Some of the finest filters available are soft tee shirt material.I
filter all fuel 3 times before filling my 5 litre field tank and that
is it - end of story and rare carby blockages.Maybe I can pass on a few
more tips at Currency Creek sometime.

Ok Fiddle Fingers - got to admit the Poms do have their finer parts
when it comes to this hobby/sport. Where else can I ask such questions?
The Idle Times can't tell me ...

You DO know that fishnet tights, whilst being rather attractive "sports
wear", make less than efficient filters?  Perhaps you should go to the shop
yourself and buy some of the finest weave panty hose or stockings that you
can find.  Apparently fella's can do that these days without getting
eyebrows raised at them with knowing nods, sideways glances and whispers.
I've not personally put this to the test though!  One pair would probably
last you a seriously long time as a supply of filter raw material, although
any other form of experimentation may considerably reduce the service life
of the items!!

Have you ever considered going to Auto Pro shop,Sprint or Repco locally
and ask for petrol filter mesh (if you must use mesh).
