It's many years ago now, but if memory serves me correctly, I covered the
whole plane in a very light weight tissue to seal it, working it really wet
so that it tightened and shrunk down to a tight smooth covering. Then,
would you believe, I used aerosol car paint to colour it, added the black
and white decals that were included in the kit, and finished it off with a
liberal coating of gloss Tufcote fuel proofer. It obviously ended up a bit
heavier than normal, but it flew like an angel. It was one of my longest
surviving models and flew for many years without incident with an OS 40 FSR
up front. It finally got "shot down" by a prat who turned on his
transmitter in the car park without checking grrrr!
