Hi all.
I am new to the world of RC and have some questions regarding LIPO
batteries and how to Charge/Balance them.
My dad has bought me a LIPO battery from the States (Electrifly Power
series 910Mah 11.1v 20c) It has to leads on it, one has a tag that
says "To ESC" and the other says "To Charger"... The one that reads
"To Charger" has 4 wires, the first (or last depending on how you look
at it) is red and all the others are black. When I look at LIPO
balancers they seem to have more than one red etc and none of the
cmbinations seem to match mine. How can I be sure I buy the right
balancer for my battery? Another thing is my 12v charger has a dial
that I have to turn to the right setting (in mah) for my bettery. If
im using a balancer, should I set this to max and let the balancer
sort it out or still set it to the batterys Mah?
Also, it sayd on the battery instruction sheet to NEVER charge through
the "To ESC" lead, but my dad says this would be fine. Whats the truth
of the matter? Can I charge this way? Should I charge this way?
Thanks in advance
Karl

first of all make sure your charger is or has a LiPo setting any other
will destroy your battery very quickly and possibly cause a fire it does
not sound like yours is a LiPo charger to me, do not use a normal
charger for Nicad or NiMH on your LiPo
you can charge the battery through the ESC wires I have several that
don't have balancer taps and I have to charge them this way and in the
short term this will not do any lasting damage (and cording to some on
here a balancer is unnecessary)
as for getting the right balancer there are several different connectors
in use perhaps someone else here will clear that bit up for you
but dont dont use the wrong charger I hope that bit is clear
